West Haven CSA
Community Supported Agriculture brings together farmers and consumers. Members enjoy seasonal eating and a close connection to their food source, while helping local sustainable agriculture flourish. At West Haven Farm, we offer the freshest, highest quality, well-washed produce available anywhere. We grow the most flavorful varieties of the staple vegetables all season long, peppered in with unusual treats. Each week's share includes a full selection of freshly picked farm-grown organic produce. Shareholders bag their own weekly portions from a farm-market-type display with lots of choices at either West Haven Farm or a location in Fall Creek.
Full Share
Full shares are the standard share size. A full share provides a good amount of produce each week for a typical household with two to four people. The cost for a Full Share in the CSA is $650.
Small Share
The small share is roughly half the size of the full share and is suitable for a smaller household with a single adult. Small shares are available for $400.
IFM Boxed Share
If you love the options of the Ithaca farmers market, but also want to make sure that you don’t miss out on the best produce, this is the option for you. this is a small share available for $400.
Making Organic Affordable
Even if you want to support organic and local food, sometimes it just isn’t in the budget. With our goal of providing produce for the local community in mind, we have created some cost-friendly ways to get your CSA share.
Add Ons
At the pick-up sites we offer optional “add-on” products for sale to supplement the veggies and strawberries in your share. We’ll be offering West Haven’s own certified organic tree fruit (peaches, plums, apple) as well as staples (bread, meat, eggs, etc.) from local folks who do a great job at what they do.

Pick-Up Locations
There are three pick-up sites - Tuesdays At the farm, Wednesdays in the Fall Creek neighborhood, and Saturdays at the Ithaca Farmers Market. Choose a pick-up site when you sign up for the CSA. The farm is located at EcoVillage Ithaca, approximately 2 miles from Downtown Ithaca. To get to the farm, take Route 79 west out of Ithaca. About 2 miles past GreenStar, turn left on Rachel Carson Way (this is a big gravel road and the entrance to EcoVillage). Go about 500 feet, then turn left onto the farm’s small dirt road. The downtown pick-up site is located behind Northstar House restaurant and the old Fall Creek Pictures at the corner of Tioga and Falls St. The pickup at the Ithaca Farmers Market is different from our other shares because it is pre-boxed.
Pick-Up Times
Farm: Tuesdays from 3:00 till 7:00 PM. Downtown: Wednesdays from 3:00 till 7:00 PM. IFM: Saturdays from 9:00 AM till 3:00 pm. The season for the CSA runs from late May through early November, about 24 weeks.
Changing Your Pick Up Location
If you want to change your pick up location, please let us know! You can E-mail csa@westhavenfarm.net two days before you want to change your location. If you let us know in advance we can occasionally arrange for you to pick up at our farmers’ market stall the Saturday before or after.
Missing a Pick-Up
If you know you'll be gone on your pick-up day, you can arrange for a friend or neighbor to get your share. If you end up missing the Tuesday farm pick-up, you can still email us by 8 AM Wednesday and change your location to Wednesday at the downtown pick-up (from 3:00 - 7:00). For the Wednesday Fall Creek pickup, there is no makeup time. If you do end up missing your share, at least you'll know you've made a good contribution to our local food pantries - that's where all the leftover produce goes.
You-Pick
There's a lot of stuff at the farm for shareholders to pick: flowers, herbs, and more of things like peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, paste tomatoes, and berries which are too labor intensive for us to harvest a huge amount of for everyone. You’re welcome at the farm any time - after all, you're the shareholders! We welcome shareholders to come to the garden anytime or to just bring a picnic - play in the sandbox and enjoy the view!
Newsletters
We try to keep in touch with you with weekly newsletters that let you know what's going on at the farm, and offer tips about what to do with the goodies in your share that week. If you have recipes you'd like to share with others, we'd love to pass them along in the newsletter.
Work Parties
We request that all shareholders try to come work on the farm for at least one of our project parties. We will let you know in the newsletter and on social media when they are happening as they come up. It’s not required to attend, however it is a great way to leave your mark on the farm and meet your fellow members! Many people satisfy this by coming to our annual Weed ‘n’ Feed on Labor Day weekend. It’s always a fun time to meet at the farm, do some work, and share a big meal together afterwards.
Working Shares
We offer a limited number of “free” shares each season to reliable, hardworking shareholders in exchange for substantial help with the harvest. This is a substantial time and energy commitment! If you are a new or returning working share, please contact us before signing up - we will give you instructions for how to sign up online. Contact us prior to signing up.
Scholarships
We also sponsor a few members every year through a small scholarship fund, composed of donations from other members. You can donate money when you signup - thank you for helping us help others. Please let us know if you or someone you know could use some support.
